Julie Danneberg, a third-generation Colorado native, grew up listening to stories about her grandmother, a miner’s daughter and her great-grandmother, an Irish immigrant turned business woman.  Love of these women and their stories started her lifelong admiration of all courageous women of the west.  Fast forward to her own adulthood, Julie worked as an elementary special education teacher and then later, taught language arts in a middle school. Spurred on by her teaching, she began writing fiction and nonfiction books for children. Although now retired from the classroom, she still pursues her writing career. She is married and has two adult children.  Julie lives in Boulder, Colorado where she loves to hike and bike, read and write.
